Umoya Winery

"Imbues the soul with ancestral power"

The point of this project is to not only evaluate the site and the regional effects of a chosen country, but to research the viticulture pertaining to that given region. The location chosen for my winery was the Cape Winelands District, South Africa which is already well known as an excellent area for wine growth. The word "Umoya" is of Zulu descent and means essence. I chose this name to pay homage to the original people of South Africa, the Zulu people. The wine's deep red hue symbolizes the blood shed by the Zulu warriors who fought for their tribe in the past.
